On March 26th, at a Hainan Province Plastic Restriction Work News Conference, it was announced that Hainan Province will officially and comprehensively prohibit single-use non-degradable plastic bags and plastic tableware from January 1, 2020. To steadily advance the plastic restriction work, the province will launch plastic restriction pilot projects in key industries and venues.
The plan is to run from April to November, Hainan will initially prohibit the sale and use of single-use non-degradable plastic bags and plastic tableware in all levels of Party and government units, institutions, large state-owned enterprises, etc., in canteens, and major tourist resorts, large supermarkets, large shopping malls, schools, hospitals, and government-organized large-scale conferences and exhibitions by listing the first batch of single-use non-degradable plastic bags and plastic tableware in the 'List of Products for Prohibition of Production and Sales and Use of Single-Use Non-Degradable Plastic Products (First Batch)' (hereinafter referred to as 'the List').
'The List' clearly prohibits the production, sale, and use of single-use non-degradable plastic products in a negative list format, primarily including materials such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA), and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) single-use films, bags, and tableware.
It is important to note that the prohibited films and tableware do not include goods such as convenient noodles, jelly, yogurt, and other packaged products. (People's Daily Hainan Channel Fan Huan Di)
