A Beautiful Love Story by Guilan Lake in Toronto
Guilan Lake is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Toronto, located 48 kilometers from the Toronto County seat in the Cai Mu Mountain Nature Reserve. Guilan Lake is a naturally formed moon-shaped bay, with clear water and surrounded by birch, elm, and willow trees, with dense vegetation and abundant wildlife. In summer, here the water is clear and the shore is green, with wildflowers blooming; in autumn, the leaves on the lakeside are all golden yellow, reflecting in the turquoise lake, forming a colorful autumn scenery.

Toronto's Guilan Lake is also known as Hulun Lake in Mongolian. Formerly known as Moon Lake, it's a naturally formed moon-shaped bay, not very large, but undeveloped and quiet. The lake water is so blue it's completely blue, the water is clear and not silted or flooded. The lake is home to carp, (jīyú), chub, and catfish, making it a great place for fishing. It's also very suitable for camping, looking at the stars, and there are many people who come here to camp in the spring when the flowers are in bloom.
The name Guilan Lake is linked to a tragic love story. In the late 17th century to the early 20th century, Toronto was a famous ‘foreign trade outpost’. It is said that the Shanxi trading company, Hesheng Kui Xiao Dong East House, Hong Chunshun, along with some companions, came to the nearby herdsmen Haote to set up tents. Nearby, a Mongolian family had a girl named Ulan Tuoya, with black, bright eyes and stunning beauty. Hong Chunshun and Ulan Tuoya fell in love at first sight and arranged to marry privately.

Unfortunately, this matter was known to the time's Director of the Multi-Level Government in the Multi-Level Government, who had always coveted Ulan Tuoya's beauty, so he arrested Hong Chunshun and sentenced him to death, and then found a reason to sentence him to death and threw him into the death cell. Ulan Tuoya, seeing her beloved being beaten so badly, was heartbroken, and thinking that she would not be able to live together in this life, she waited for the next life to continue their relationship, and was heartbroken and jumped into the Moon Lake to commit suicide.
After Ulan Tuoya's death, Hong Chunshun's family spent a lot of money to buy him out of prison. Hong Chunshun knew that his beloved was gone, so he wandered by the Moon Lake day and night. One day, Hong Chunshun, in a state of confusion, saw the figure of Ulan Tuoya rising from the lake's center, and he shouted her name and ran towards the lake's center, eventually jumping into the lake and separating with her forever.

Later, people renamed Moon Lake ‘Guilan Lake’. This story has been developed over the years with the development of tourism, and has become a legend from a true story. Now, to film a movie, the story has been adapted again! As the descendant of local Shanxi merchants and Mongols, this story has been passed down through generations and is basically true!
