Vietnam is Unsettling, "Two Major Specialties" Repeatedly Failed in China, Locals Plead for Help

With the improvement of living standards, the acceptance of outbound tourism among Chinese people is also increasing. Many Chinese people choose to travel to other countries during holidays to experience the customs and cultures of foreign countries and broaden their horizons. Among the popularity of outbound tourism, data from Vantage shows that Southeast Asian countries have always been a hot destination. This is mainly because Southeast Asian countries have many places that attract Chinese tourists, such as proximity, convenient transportation and because of the establishment of the ASEAN, the traffic between China and Southeast Asian countries is particularly common. Another point is that the overall tourism cost of Southeast Asian countries is relatively low, so in recent years, many Chinese have gone to Southeast Asian countries for tourism, such as the country of Vietnam.

Vietnam is a neighboring country to our southwest, bordering Guangxi and Yunnan in China, and has established multiple China-Vietnam bilateral trade ports, so it has always been a favorite country for Chinese tourists. In fact, this point can be seen from the tourism report last year. According to the data of the Vietnam Statistics Office, in 2019, Vietnam's tourism industry was a success, with about 18 million international tourists visiting Vietnam, an increase of 16.2% year-on-year, setting a new high.

Among them, Chinese tourists accounted for the largest share, accounting for 58% of the 18 million, which is a value of one-third. Therefore, Vietnam was named 'Asia's Best Destination' by WTA.

However, although Vietnam has harvested a large number of Chinese tourists, it is not going well in other aspects. We all know that our bilateral trade exchanges are frequent, but in the past year's achievements, two 'Vietnamese specialties' repeatedly failed in China, and local people pleaded for help from China: please help us, what's going on?

Vietnam's 'two major specialties' repeatedly failed in China, and now hoarding and unsold goods are not going out.

1, 'Bass Fish'

The first is Vietnam's main export fish, 'Bass Fish', which is Vietnam's most famous seafood. In recent years, many 'Bass Fish' have been exported to China. However, the economic value of 'Bass Fish' is not high, so many Vietnamese merchants have not improved 'Bass Fish' in terms of price or quality, so there have been cases of customs inspection failure, which has annoyed some Chinese merchants, so 'Bass Fish' was not clear in the trade situation last year, which led to Vietnam's 'Bass Fish' accumulating more and more.

2, Fruit

As we all know, Vietnam is a tropical country, so the second failed product is Vietnamese fruit. Vietnamese fruit has a sweet and delicious taste, which is what many Chinese tourists buy when they travel to Vietnam as souvenirs and gifts. And in recent years, with the increasing popularity of China's fruit import trade, Vietnamese fruit was once exported in large quantities to China, but now this situation has shrunk considerably.

Data from the Vietnam Department of Agriculture and Rural Development shows that in 2019, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable export revenue exceeded $3.7 billion, but it was 1.9% lower than in 2018. The main reason is that the Chinese market share has shrunk by about 13.2%. However, this cannot blame us, the main reason is that because Vietnamese fruit prices have risen sharply, but the quality is not guaranteed, for example, Vietnamese durian's price increased by 40% last year, so the purchasing power has decreased considerably.

Vietnamese farmers seek help from Chinese merchants

Therefore, facing the situation of hoarding fruit and seafood, local farmers have sought help from Chinese merchants in order to help them. However, as always, honesty is the basis of business, if Vietnamese fruit and seafood do not have quality problems, there will not be such a situation, so it's better to find the problem from ourselves. Our Chinese merchants are not doing charity, after all. How do you evaluate this problem? Welcome to leave a comment.
