Gansu’s ‘Second Largest City’: A Tourism Hub with GDP Second Only to Lanzhou
Lead: The 'Second Largest City' in Gansu, with abundant tourism resources second only to Lanzhou, but a provincial-level city
When many people think of Gansu, the first impression is often 'poor'. This is mainly due to the province's unique geographical location and some historical factors. However, it is precisely because of this province's geographical location and humanistic history that this impoverished province has become a major tourist destination. When it comes to Gansu, many famous cities, such as 'Lanzhou' or 'Dunhuang', are very well-known. However, today I'm going to talk about a relatively low-key city with a GDP second only to Lanzhou in the province, and also with abundant tourism resources – that's Pingyang ().

Pingyang is a provincial-level city in Gansu, with a relatively small population, but in 2018 its GDP reached 70.8 billion, ranking it among the top in the province, which also results in Gansu's per capita GDP being quite good. However, many people simply think that this city's economic development is good, but this is a rather narrow view. This city has a long history and humanistic landscapes, and has been named by the country as well, but many people don't know about it. Today, I'm going to introduce one of the city's most representative attractions.
Pingyang Gong Liu Temple
This temple, known as 'The First Gong Liu Temple in China', is located in Liu's Village, Huangjiazhuang Village, Wenquan Town, Xifeng District. When it was first built, it was covered by towering vegetation, and the environment inside was very quiet and elegant. However, the background was destroyed by the army, causing this beautiful attraction to be ruined. Later, it was dismantled. But because Gong Liu's ideas were deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, they deeply admired him, so they rebuilt the temple, and now the temple with a total area of more than 260 square meters is very magnificent.
Zhenpushan Forest Park

This park, with a history of 1800 years, is a national AAA-level scenic area, named after a book. Currently, besides the extant book, there are also the ancient cypresses planted by the author himself. The park also has more than ten thousand various flower species, with colorful and beautiful scenery.

In fact, these attractions are just a few examples of this city. There are many other such attractions. Therefore, the city that many people have in mind is on the Loess Plateau, but its natural and humanistic landscapes are also very good. With the continuous development of this city, it is believed that it will become even better.
