Reading is a Happiness
Please believe that every second spent reading will help you settle into a better version of yourself
This happiness is in the days, in the quiet time of every day. It doesn't need to be said, the possession of quiet time is itself happiness, and quiet time becomes especially beautiful because of reading.
This issue of 'Xiao Que Du Shu' recommends beautiful English literature, 'Reading is a happiness'
Reading—no, more accurately speaking, what is called 'reading' as a habit, has become a happiness for me. This happiness is in the days, in the quiet time of every day.
It doesn't need to be said, the possession of quiet time is itself happiness, and quiet time becomes especially beautiful because of reading.
My quiet enjoyment often comes before bedtime, or on the road. Every night after going to bed, without a book beside my pillow, I can't sleep, I'm sure I'm having insomnia. When going on a long hike, I might forget to bring anything, but books will never be forgotten.
'A scholar who doesn't go out is just bragging about knowing all about the world.' Or it's the ridicule that others say about 'scholars.' However, in modern society, with the richness and development of media, it is within the reach of contemporary people to roughly know 'things about the world' without going out.
What good does it do to know?
Knowing will enrich my understanding of the world. And this understanding, for me—a writer—is very important.
Talking about understanding the world seems too big, so let's talk about understanding the surrounding life. It is through reading that I feel that life sometimes surges powerfully, sometimes swirls in eddies, sometimes ripples gently...
Of course, this is just one aspect of the pleasure that reading brings me. On the other hand, through reading, I met many people. It's as if there's a new friend every day. I admire them, and I'm willing to take them as examples of their lives.
I also seem to have seen many 'enemies' – all human enemies – things that negatively affect humans and the natural environment.
This makes me often feel that it is important to have a clear sense of love and hate.
In my spare time writing, when my pen stops, I will carefully read literary magazines. If I read a wonderful piece, I will finish it in one breath. Whether the author is known or not, I will feel the satisfaction of finishing a wonderful piece.
If the writers are friends, and they live in the same city, they often call to share their feelings. It's not so much to share the joy of others, but to hope that others share my joy. If the author is from another place, they often write letters to express their feelings.
Reading is a happiness.
