Following the Steps of Spring: Let's Recite Classics Together – Lu Xun’s ‘Spring’
Anticipate, anticipate, the east wind is coming, and the footsteps of spring are approaching.
Everything is like waking up from a nap, refreshed and opened its eyes. The mountains are becoming moist and rising, the water is rising, and the sun is blushing.
The little grass secretly peeks out from the soil, tender and green. In the garden, in the fields, look, a vast expanse of full blooms. Sit, lie down, roll two times, kick a few balls, race a few times, hide a few times. The wind is light and quiet, the grass is soft and supple.
Plum trees, apricot trees, pear trees, if not me, I will not let them, all blooming to help. Red like fire, pink like sunset, white like snow. The flowers carry a hint of sweetness; close your eyes, the trees seem to be full of plums, apricots, and pears. Thousands of bees buzz under the flowers, butterflies flutter around. Wildflowers are scattered everywhere: various kinds of flowers, named and unnamed, scattered in the flower bushes, like eyes, like stars, blinking.
'Wind like a willow' is wonderful, like mother's hand stroking you. The wind brings the scent of freshly turned earth, mixed with the aroma of grass and various flowers, all brewing in the slightly damp air. Birds have built their nests among the tender blossoms, happy, singing clear throats and enchanting melodies, in harmony with the gentle breeze and flowing water. A shepherd boy's flute rings out prominently on his back.
Rain is the most common, lasting three or two days. Don't be annoyed. Look, like hemp, like needles, like strands, densely woven on rooftops, a layer of smoke envelops them; but the leaves are lush and bright green, and the grass is vibrant. In the evening, the lamp was lit, a hint of yellow light illuminated a quiet and peaceful night. In the countryside, on the roadside, by the stone bridge, people walking slowly under umbrellas; farmers working in the fields, wearing raincoats and hats. Their houses are sparsely scattered in the rain, quietly silent.
Kites in the sky gradually increased, children on the ground also increased. In the city and countryside, families of all ages, old and young, all came out. Relaxing and stretching your muscles, invigorating your spirit, doing your own part – 'Spring is the key to a year's plan'. It's the beginning, there's plenty of time, and plenty of hope.
Spring is like a newborn babe from head to toe, fresh and new. It's growing.
Spring is like a young girl, blooming gracefully, smiling, walking.
Spring is like a strong young man, with strong arms and waist, leading us forward.
