True Love Isn't About Possession, But About Giving

When I was young, my family took me to a temple for praying.

The temple was located on a high mountain, without many people's smoke and mist, and the animals seemed particularly lively.

In front of the temple, when I stood, I saw a strange thing in the nearby forest. I went to have a look, and found a small hedgehog curled up, with its spikes standing up, as if defending something. I picked up a few leaves that were hard and took it.

Maybe it was frightened, it made a '' sound. I saw it was very cute, so I went to ask a monk for a bag, wanting to take it home.

When I put it in the bag, an old monk came over. He asked me, 'Do you like this hedgehog?'

'Of course I like it, otherwise why would I take it away?'

I instinctively felt that the old monk wanted to take away my hedgehog, so I wanted to step back, but the old monk's words startled me.

'If you really like this hedgehog, let it die now.'

'You are so cruel, aren't you? How can a monk kill?'

The old monk smiled and asked me, 'Don't you think Tang Seng loves, do they have a relationship?'

'They are teacher and student, and they shared hardship on the journey to take the scriptures, so they must have.'

'But was originally a monkey, he was the king of the monkeys in the mountains, with his descendants and friends, but Tang Seng put a tight collar on him, tamed his wildness, although he finally became the Great Hero, but he was a lonely man in the Heavenly Court.'

'Tang Seng is doing this for him!'

'If you really love someone, you shouldn't try to change him.'The old monk continued to explain to me:

'A hedgehog will die if it's taken away from its original place, it will eventually die from loneliness and inability to adapt. Rather than suffering from loneliness and dying, it's better to let it die peacefully, this is what I want you to give it.'

I didn't pay attention to the monk, insisting on taking the hedgehog. But after a few days at home, the hedgehog died.

At that moment, the old monk's words fell heavily on my heart.

When I was in my freshman year of high school, I was sensitive and lacked self-esteem, and I didn't have any friends. I spent most of my time sleeping during breaks.

One day, a transfer student came to our class, and he was assigned to sit in the back row. If it weren't for the fact that the class was organized based on examination scores, we might never have met.

Because we were only one point apart in the midterm exam, we became classmates sitting next to each other.

He was a very patient boy, he always came to talk to me.

Knowing that I was very afraid of exams, he would write '' (add oil) on my hand before each exam; knowing that I was sensitive and lacked self-esteem, he would always find a point to praise me in daily life.

He would look at me seriously and say, 'Be happy.'

At that time, I was young and frivolous, and someone came to protect you, it was really touching. I think I fell in love with him at that time, because he was the first person to shine light on my world.

Later, we also quarreled, but he would always tell me jokes to make me give in.

After the college entrance exam, he went to high school, and I chose to repeat. Because of the space and time difference, I always felt insecure, so I always quarreled with him.

The last time we quarreled, the old monk said to me:'If you love, please love deeply, instead of repeatedly hurting him.'

Writer Shi Tie said:

'Like, is to like something is good or very good, and the subsequent thoughts are to own it. Love is often to think that something is bad or not good enough, in fact, it is to hope it will be good to be very good, and the subsequent encouragement is: to give it.'

Possession will ruin a person, while deep love is sincere giving. Either deep love or let go.
