As a foodie who loves making food, I work during the day and just eat ready-made meals when I get home. I occasionally cook a few different dishes in the evening because the family is bored at home. Before the New Year, we bought ingredients, and the family was bored at home, so changing the dishes was necessary.


Today I made glutinous rice eight-treasure rice for my family. My husband knows I don't have time to make sweet bean paste, so he prepared the sweet bean paste in advance, and I took care of making the eight-treasure rice. It's not difficult to make, everyone can learn it. Many people like sweet rice with bean paste, and it's best to make the sweet bean paste yourself, but if you don't have time, you can buy it.

Many stores haven't opened yet, and there's no delivery of cakes, bread, liangpi, or noodles. Let's practice our hands, we don't have to worry about anything.

Glutinous Rice Eight-Treasure Rice

Main Ingredients: 200g glutinous rice, 130g homemade sweet bean paste

Accessories: 6 walnut kernels, 4 red dates, 10+ grains of coix seeds, 30g white sugar

Instructions: Step 1, make sweet bean paste at home, although it is not as fine as bought, but it's not so sweet, and there are no additives

Step 2, add water to the glutinous rice and soak it for 20 minutes will make the rice softer

Step 3, wash the soaked glutinous rice and put it in a rice cooker, add an amount of water similar to that used to cook rice, and press the rice cooker button to cook.

Step 4, after the glutinous rice is cooked, take it out

Step 5, add 30g of white sugar and add it to the cooked glutinous rice while it's still hot

Step 6, stir it quickly and let it cool slightly

Step 7, then divide the walnut kernels in half, cut the red dates into four pieces, and prepare them

Step 8, find a bowl with a certain depth, brush a thin layer of oil on the bottom and sides of the bowl to prevent sticking

Step 9, put the red dates, walnut kernels, and coix seeds in the bottom of the bowl, pay attention to putting the red color down

Step 10, put half of the mixed glutinous rice into the bowl and spread it evenly

Step 11, then put the sweet bean paste in the middle and spread it evenly

Step 12, cover the remaining half of the glutinous rice on top of the sweet bean paste and spread it evenly

Step 13, cover the bowl with plastic wrap, put it in the steamer for 20-30 minutes

Step 14, after steaming, take it out, remove the plastic wrap

Step 16, cover the bowl with a flat plate

Step 17, invert the bowl

Take it out, and you have a delicious and authentic glutinous rice eight-treasure rice!
