Bought a pound of Ague Cakes for 368 yuan, so expensive, is it worth it? You'll know when you make it yourself.

Ingredients:

Emei Ya Erhong (Emei Red Honey), half a catty.

Rice wine, one bottle.

Rock sugar, half a catty.

Red dates, half a catty.

Walnuts, half a catty.

Sesame seeds, half a catty.

Cranberries, 100 grams.

Instructions:

Wrap the honey sticks in muslin cloth and smash them into small pieces, the smaller the pieces, the better.

Pour the smashed honey sticks into a bowl and pour in a bottle (about 500g) of rice wine, stir until well combined.

Seal the rim of the bowl with plastic wrap to prevent evaporation, soak for 2 days, and stir a few times during this period to help with melting.

Remove the dates from their pits and cut them into small pieces.

Roast the sesame seeds.

Roast the walnuts until they are ripe (walnuts with a peel that comes off easily when rubbed can be considered ripe), and chop them into pieces.

Pour the melted honey into the pot, medium heat, and keep stirring.

When it boils, reduce the heat and add rock sugar, continuously stir until the rock sugar melts.

After 5 minutes, bubbles will start to appear.

After another 10 minutes, it will become viscous, and you should be able to scoop it up with a spoon, forming a triangular shape.

Reduce the heat to the lowest setting, and add the dates, walnuts, and cranberries, continuously stirring.

You can also use both hands to grab the spoon and stir until you can pull out threads.

Turn off the heat, add the sesame seeds, and stir until well mixed.

Prepare two food-grade plastic boxes with oiled walls, and place the honey cakes in them, flatten and press firmly.

Let it cool and demold.

Cut into small slices. (If you don't have professional tools, you can only rely on force.)

Seal and store or refrigerate for storage.

Consume one slice per day normally. If you can handle it, you can eat more slices. I can only eat one slice, or I get acne if I eat too much.
