Super Simple Lazy Person Steamed Rice, No Need to Stir-Fry, Fragrant When Made, Every Time It's a Full Pot
Habitually, we call cooked rice with meat and vegetables 'mianfan' (steamed rice), and it's simple to make, fragrant, and delicious. The rice and ingredients come out of the pot together, which is especially suitable for lazy people (busy people). There are many kinds of mianfan, such as cooked with sausage and bacon, which has a fragrant aroma that makes people drool; cooked with pork belly and ribs, savory and delicious; seafood mianfan is even more exquisite. Mianfan is definitely not just about mixing rice with vegetables; various materials are steamed together with rice, and the aroma of meat and rice are fully integrated. Every grain of rice is fragrant to just the right extent.
Traditional mianfan requires cooking meat with oil before steaming with rice. I find it a bit greasy to eat. Today's mianfan adopts a different approach: no need to cook the ingredients with oil, and it's fragrant and delicious when it's made and out of the pot, and it's healthier. Nowadays, people don't lack oil, so we need to find a balance between 'deliciousness' and 'health'. It's comfortable and healthy, which is perfect. This bowl of rice looks too refreshing, and there's no soy sauce. The flavor is still very attractive. As we get older, eating is also about reducing. I believe less is more healthy.
Especially added to the rice are dried fava beans. It was the first time I steamed rice with them, and I found it very delicious. Dried fava beans have been cultivated by humans for a very long time, originating in the Middle East. Now, India and Pakistan grow a lot of them, and they are their main grains. Dried fava beans are rich in nutrients, including fiber, vitamins and minerals, and isoflavones, which tastes like chestnuts when cooked, and the cooked dried fava beans are very delicious. Adding dried fava beans to the rice makes it even more nutritious.
Sausage Mianfan
Ingredients: Two cups of rice, one cup of soaked fava beans, a piece of bacon, a piece of sausage, half a carrot, a handful of garlic sprouts; salt, light soy sauce, sesame oil.
Method:
1. Prepare rice and soaked fava beans. The beans are quite hard, so they need to be soaked for about 10 hours. In winter, you can soak them at normal temperature, and in summer, you can put them in the refrigerator to soak. Once soaked, the beans can be cooked directly or cooked together with rice, which is very easy to cook.
2. Prepare carrots, garlic sprouts, bacon and sausage. You can replace vegetables with corn kernels, pea grains, shiitake mushrooms, potatoes and other vegetables.
3. Cut the sausage into segments, cut the bacon into slices, cook it in boiling water until it starts to boil, then cook it with rice, which tastes better.
4. Cut the carrots into small grains. Carrots are colorful and very nutritious. I like to eat carrots.
5. Wash the rice and beans and cut them into small pieces, put them into the rice cooker of a healthy steam rice pot, put the sausage and bacon on top of the rice, add the appropriate amount of water. If you prefer a stronger flavor, you can add a little salt into the water. This rice cooker has a draining function, so it needs a lot of water. When steaming rice, first cook it, drain the water, and then steam it again. It's similar to the way we used to make rice at home, but we don't have to do it ourselves. The program automatically completes the draining and watering. What's the benefit of draining? The rice I cooked today drained off some oil, so the sugar in the rice is reduced, and the oil in the savory rice is also reduced. This is healthier for older people.
6. Start the rice cooker's de-sugar rice program. After the water boils, it will take 22 minutes to steam the rice. Steaming rice is very fast.
7. While steaming rice, chop the garlic sprouts and blanch them in water, then cut them into segments and set aside. Garlic sprouts are separated from the rice because if we cook them together with rice, the flavor of the rice will not be good, and the color and texture of the garlic sprouts will not be as good as when we eat them separately. It's refreshing and tasty.
8. After the program ends, the rice is steamed, a full pot, it smells so good, put garlic sprouts on it, drizzle with light soy sauce and sesame oil, and mix it well to eat. Isn't it simple?
More comments:
Dry-fried mianfan is suitable for steaming with meat flavors, the unique fragrance and oiliness of the meat will make the rice very delicious. If you use pork belly, five-flavor pork, chicken pieces, etc., you still need to dry cook the moisture before steaming with rice. Directly using it will not taste good.
After steaming, use a small amount of light soy sauce and sesame oil. The flavor of the rice will be upgraded. You can also use oyster sauce and soy sauce to make a sauce and pour it over the rice. The flavor is very good. However, I still think simplicity is healthier.
