Staying Home for 20 Days: Our Family Loves This Porridge – Healthy Complexion and Strong Bodies!
Don't always have oily fried dough sticks and bean curd milk for breakfast. This porridge is simple, nutritious, fragrant, and loved by the little ones! During a 20-day stay-at-home period, our family eats this porridge sporadically, and everyone, young and old, has rosy faces, excellent complexion, and a strong body. Eating porridge for breakfast is a habit in our family – it's less ingredients, easy to make and good for the stomach.

There are many varieties of porridge, which can be sweet, savory, with or without meat, and can also be made with grains. Our family likes to cook grain porridge, which is low in calories and easy to absorb. If you stay home for too long, grain porridge is more suitable for helping the digestive system function and promoting bowel movements. Of course, you also need to exercise moderately and arrange your time properly at home.

Today, I'd like to introduce you to Quinoa and Purple Yam Porridge. The ingredients include three colorful grains: quinoa, rice, and purple yam. Quinoa's nutritional value surpasses traditional grains, quinoa is an alkaline food, rich in dietary fiber, and has many benefits for the human body. Purple yam tastes better than sweet potatoes and also has a higher nutritional value. Quinoa, rice, and purple yam are easy to store, so you won't run out of food even if you stay home for three months. Next, I'll share the recipe for our family's delicious breakfast – Quinoa and Purple Yam Porridge:
Quinoa and Purple Yam PorridgeBelow is the quantity for our family's breakfast. Six hundred grams of quinoa, one hundred grams of rice, and one purple yam (approximately 100 grams).

Step 1: Mix the rice and quinoa, wash them with water, and pour a little water to soak for 10 minutes. Soaking makes them easier to cook, saves electricity and time.

Step 2: Peel and cut the purple yam into pieces. Regarding the selection of purple yams, it's better to choose smaller ones rather than larger ones. Long, slender purple yams are more crisp and sweet and delicious.

Step 3: After soaking, drain the rice and quinoa and put them in an electric rice cooker, then add the purple yam pieces and add a little water. We added 1200ml of water. If you prefer a thicker porridge, add 1100ml of water. If you like a thinner porridge, add 1300ml of water.
Step 4: Close the lid of the rice cooker and press the 'cook rice' button for about 30 minutes. You can also cook porridge in a clay pot, which takes about 1 hour or more. Small fire, slow simmering, makes the porridge taste better. Since most families have electric rice cookers, I specifically used an electric rice cooker today to teach you how to make Quinoa and Purple Yam Porridge.

Step 5: After the porridge is cooked, don't open the lid immediately, let it steam for 10 minutes, the porridge will be more dense and fragrant. When eating porridge, use a spoon to stir it evenly. If you like sweet porridge, add a little sugar. Our family's original Quinoa and Purple Yam Porridge is healthier, and purple yam has a sweet taste. Children and the elderly love to eat it.
