Secret Recipe for Braised Pork Belly (Char Siu) – More Delicious Than Roasted!
1 Raw materials:
Pork belly 500g, white sugar 1 tablespoon, 1 tablespoon, salt 1 tablespoon, five-spice powder 1 tablespoon, soy sauce 1 spoonful, aged soy sauce 1 spoonful, star anise 1 piece, ginger 1 small piece, shallots 10g.
2 The method is as follows:
1 Cut the pork belly into strips and place it in a bowl with white sugar,, salt, five-spice powder, ginger, shallots (crushed) soy sauce (to enhance flavor), aged soy sauce (for color), mix well, then marinate for 60 minutes.
2 Place the marinated pork belly and star anise in boiling water, then reduce the heat and continue to cook, while removing foam, and continuously pour broth onto the pork slices until the broth is absorbed.
3 Take out the red-colored pork belly, place it on a cutting board, and cut it into 1cm thick pieces lengthwise, and finally pour self-made sauce over it, and drizzle evenly or mix well, ready to eat.
3 Tips: Sauce making method: Take the original juice (i.e., the juice left after boiling the pork belly without drying) add chicken broth, a little pepper, cornstarch water, soy sauce to make a paste, put it on a hot pot, cook into a paste.
