Jilin City Longtan Mountain Park is located in the eastern part of Jilin City, on the east bank of the Songhua River. It is named after the dragon-shaped cave in the mountain. It is one of the Four Famous Mountains in Jilin, known as the dwelling place of the East Dragon. It is a park with forests as its main landscape and is one of the eight scenic views of Jilin, Longtan Yin Yue. The Longtan Mountain Park was built on the mountain and is a city scenic and historic park in Jilin City, and one of the best urban forest parks with high protection, utilization and development value.

When it comes to Longtan, many people know that it is the origin of the name Longtan Mountain. It is located at the lowest point northwest of Longtan Ancient City. There are many guesses about its origin, and the reservoir explanation is now the mainstream. It doesn't matter, what's important is that it's one of the eight old Jilin scenic views – Longtan Yin Yue.

Longtan Ancient City has a number of sites built between the 37th year of the Jin Dynasty (around 667 AD). The ancient city wall was broken by the Kangxi Emperor during his eastern tour, forming the broken ridge as it is today. It was designated as one of the sixth batch of national key archaeological sites in 2006, with a Jin Dynasty period inscription.

The highest peak of Longtan Mountain is called South Heavenly Gate. Standing on the summit, you can overlook Jilin. Now there is a three-story pavilion with the South Heavenly Gate Revolutionary Relic Stone Tablet.
