Laohe Bai Autonomous Prefecture is the only Bai autonomous prefecture in China, located in the western part of Yunnan Province, close to the Myanmar border. The area within the prefecture is characterized by mountainous terrain, with scattered plains. The plains areas are densely populated and economically developed. Laohe has many tourist attractions, with the most famous being the Cangshan and Erhai Scenic Area, which is also a major source of economic income for the prefecture.
In recent years, Laohe Prefecture has developed rapidly, with urban construction evolving day by day, and transportation is now well-connected. Today, we will look at Laohe Prefecture from another angle – by measuring the area of each county and city within the prefecture and ranking them, to understand the urban construction and economic development situation of each county and city, providing a reference for employment and investment in housing.
Laohe Prefecture administers Laohe City and the counties of Xiangyun, Mitou, Binjiang, Yingping, Yunlong,, Hexin, and Jianqian, as well as the Nuquan, Wensan, and Nanqian Minority Autonomous Counties.
Laohe City
Laohe City is the prefecture-level city of Laohe Bai Autonomous Prefecture, located on the southernmost plains of Erhai Lake, with mountains behind it, making it a city built on mountains and water. A new city was built around the airport, which is incredibly impressive. The new city has built many high-rise buildings in succession, which has expanded the area of the urban district by more than double. Standing on the mountain top, you can see the entire city and Erhai Lake, which is breathtaking. The construction of the new city presents a ‘U’ shaped city.
Xiangyun County
Xiangyun County’s city is built on a small, flat basin plain, with mountains to its west and a small plain to the east, where many villages are clustered, forming a block-like distribution. A new airport was built near Liu Plantation Town, which is remarkable for a county-level city.
Xiang Yao Road, Jiu Ding Road, Wen Yuan Road, Xingchang Road, Qinghong Road and Wealth Avenue are the main streets of the urban district. Industrial parks were built around two reservoirs in the northern area.
Binjiang County
Binjiang County’s city is built on a long, straight plain. Due to the flat terrain, a new city was built in the east of the old city, planned reasonably. The urban district roads are straight and upright, and the houses are square and rectangular, presenting a block-like distribution.
Nanyu Road, Xin Fu Road, Landscape Avenue, Jinchuan Road, Bai Yang Road, Jin Ye Road, Global Tong Avenue, Jinniu Road and are the main streets of the urban district.
Mitou County
Mitou County’s city is built on a basin plain, due to the flat terrain, the city construction is square and block-like.
Yingping County
Yingping County’s city is built on a very small plain, surrounded by mountains. The urban district is concentrated, presenting a block-like distribution. The old urban area has many houses, but the south of the city has been newly built with high-rise buildings and wide, straight roads. Especially Bonan Road is very wide and straight, and very grand. Bonan Road, Bonan East Road, and Bo Fen Road are the main streets of the urban district.
Yunlong County
Yunlong County is built in a river valley, with mountains on both sides of the river. The terrain is quite steep, but the city has a little bit of flat land, so the city is very concentrated, built in a block-like distribution. The urban area is mainly located on the east side of the river, with only Yu Long Bay to the west.
Ren Jiang Road, Renmin Road, Huanbei Road and Four Streets are the main streets of the urban district.
County
County is located 18 kilometers north of Erhai Lake. The name may originate from the fact that this is the source of Erhai Lake. The city is built on a basin plain, and the roads and houses are built in a relatively square manner. The urban area is located at the southern end of the Scenic Area, with lakes flowing through the city.
Ning Hu Road, Teng Fei Road, Xing Yuan Road, Ning Xin Road, Wen Bi Road and Wei Er Road are the main streets of the urban district.
