Xifeng Cliff: Feeling the First Perilous Peak in the World
Xifeng Cliff embodies the first perilous peak in the world
Xifeng is a complete boulder, naturally formed. The northwest cliff drops thousands of feet, like being carved with a knife, its steep and majestic, upright and stalwart posture is representative of the shape of Mount Hua. Therefore, Mount Hua was often called Lotus Mountain. The western peak of Mount Hua is where the 'Lotus Lamp' depicts the fragrance of sandalwood splitting the mountain to rescue the three goddesses. Now, beside Cuiyun Palace, there is a boulder with a crack in the middle, like it was split by an axe, named 'Axe-Split Stone'. Beside it is a long-handled large axe. The western side of the peak stands upright like a knife, empty and thousands of feet deep, called 'Martyr's Cliff'. There are inscriptions carved on the cliff face, using grass script,, and cursive script, a dazzling array. The northern peak of the mountain is called Xishi Tower Peak, and the tower on the peak was built by Yang Hugeng, the General. The tower has inscriptions written by General Yang Hugeng himself. Under the tower, the rocks are inscribed with 'Dreaming of Broken Harmony' written in the hand of calligrapher Wang Duo.
