Which Subway Station is the Most Beautiful in Shanghai? Real-Shot Cherry Blossom Viewing Spots in Pudong and Pudong West
This is 'Lin Shi Qu Yu Ji' (Line Sight Seven's Record'). Record with the lens, narrate with words.
In recent years, many transportation hubs in Shanghai have become popular cherry blossom viewing spots. For example, the 'Hongquiao Football Field Station' in Pudong West and the 'Dongchang Road Station' in Pudong East have successively been dubbed 'The Most Beautiful Subway Station in the Magic City'.
So, who deserves this title more? Let's take a look.
Convenience
The cherry blossom forest at Hongquiao Football Field Station is located at the intersection of Xijiang Bay Road and Sichuan North Road in Pudong West. Take Metro Line 8, get off at Hongquiao Football Field Station, and come out from Exit 1, you can see this large-scale cherry blossom forest directly.
However, it's important to note that Hongquiao Football Field Station also has Metro Line 3 running, with a separate Exit 1. If you're not careful and get confused, you'll have to walk a longer distance.
Dongchang Road Station is located along Metro Line 2, sandwiched between Century Avenue and Lujiazui. Similarly, Exit 1 brings you to the cherry blossoms.
These two locations' cherry blossoms can be viewed simply by exiting the station, and the convenience is equally impressive.
Cherry Blossom Planting Density
At Hongquiao Football Field Station, there's a Japanese-Chinese Cherry Blossom Garden, planting 170 Japanese-Chinese flowering cherry trees. Since the green space was built in 2008, after 10 years of growth, it has now grown to a considerable scale and is quite spectacular, and even if you walk around the perimeter, it's hard not to be attracted by this large expanse of pink.
The cherry trees along Dongchang Road are planted in a small street heart green space built along Century Avenue, and the number is not high. However, during the few days when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, in the surrounding area surrounded by glass curtain wall office buildings, it's quite noticeable.
Obviously, in terms of cherry blossom planting, Hongquiao Football Field Station's density is far superior.
Featured Landscape
The Hongquiao Football Field cherry blossom forest is adjacent to Lu Xun Park, and the landscape landmark here has been specially designed, with black letters on a white background, which looks very clear and combines with the cherry blossoms in the background to create a beautiful picture.
At the same time, you can also see the scene of the subway passing through the cherry blossom forest from the elevated Metro Line 3.
Obviously, the Hongquiao Football Field side has a more Japanese-style fresh style, and the dense cherry blossom forest is very suitable for taking portraits.
Dongchang Road subway station can see cherry blossoms together with the Lujiazui landmark buildings, which is difficult for other cherry blossom viewing spots in Shanghai to compare.
If you choose the right angle, you can even see the skyscrapers surrounded by cherry blossom clusters, which is a rare sight.
Because the cherry blossom planting density here is not high and the landscape richness is limited, it mainly revolves around the three elements behind it; and the low bridge and flowing water environment is also quite nice.
When it comes to featured landscapes, both stations have their own strengths and weaknesses.
Nearby Leisure Activities
After enjoying the cherry blossoms at Hongquiao Football Field Station, there are many popular food and beverage stores nearby to choose from. And the adjacent Hongquiao Park is also a good place for family outings.
Compared to this, the surrounding area of Dongchang Road is a more concentrated business area and residential area. If you have ample time, you can walk to Lujiazui Central Green Space for leisure and recreation; or continue to take a subway to Lujiazui for shopping or riverside sightseeing.
Do you go out to see cherry blossoms this year? What's the closest cherry blossom viewing spot to your home? Looking at it all, which of Shanghai's Hongquiao Football Field and Dongchang Road deserves to be called 'The Most Beautiful Subway Station in the Magic City'?
