Blue Hole Aerial Viewing of Natural Wonders

Belize Barrier Reef System was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. The area comprises seven protected areas, including Bacalar Lagoon National Park and Marine Reserve, The Great Blue Hole Reserve, Half Moon Caye Nature Reserve, South Water Marine Reserve, Glover’s Reef Marine Reserve, Laughing Bird Caye National Park and Manatee Caye Nature Reserve. It is the largest coral reef system in the Atlantic-Caribbean region, and the second largest coral reef system in the world.
Of the natural landscapes mentioned above, The Great Blue Hole is undoubtedly the most unique and stunning natural wonder. The Belize Blue Hole is part of the Lighthouse Reef, a perfect circular oceanic deep hole, and is one of the world’s top 10 natural wonders. The Blue Hole is also a world-renowned diving destination, and famous underwater diving experts have ranked it as one of the world’s top 10 diving sites.
For viewing the Blue Hole alone, the best way is to fly by small plane from above, which not only allows you to see the complete Blue Hole but also appreciate the spectacular coral plate reefs along the way.
In Belize, Tropic Air and Maya Island Air offer regular flights for Blue Hole tours (Blue holefly-tour). You can choose to depart from Belize City or San Pedro. Tropic Air flights depart on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 AM from San Pedro; on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Mondays at 11:00 AM from Belize City. Maya Island Air departs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 11:00 AM from San Pedro. Sightseeing tickets can be booked at the airport and online. Most hotels in Belize City and San Pedro can also book flights, and the cost is approximately $275 USD. Private charters are available for three people at $780 USD.
In September 2019, I took a Tropic Air sightseeing small plane to tour and photographed the Belize coastline, coral plate reef landscapes, and the beautiful deep blue eye – the Blue Hole. Here I share with everyone.
