Luoyang: Celebrating the Blooming Days of Peonies in the Suiyang City Ruins Botanical Garden!

Today is March 29, 2020. The 38th Lotus Festival in Luoyang will be held from April 1st to May 1st. To enjoy it for free and to avoid the crowds during the flower show, come to Luoyang City New District Botanical Garden – Luoyang Suiyang City Ruins Botanical Garden to see the early blooming lotuses.

• The main gate of Luoyang Suiyang City Ruins Botanical Garden is the West Gate. The media's publicity is shown in the following picture – the botanical garden's west entrance. Visitors must take body temperature and Lu Kang code, and wear masks before entering. However, today it does not charge, starting on April 1st.

I. Luoyang Suiyang City Ruins Botanical Garden Overview

Luoyang Suiyang City Botanical Garden covers an area of over 2000 acres. There are flowers blooming in all seasons, of course, the main viewing period is in spring, especially when the lotuses are in full bloom. In spring, peach blossoms are like fire, cherry blossoms like snow; small rivers flow, and the lake surface is boating. All kinds of flowers, diverse and charming, compete for beauty; various trees and grasses, vigorously re-emerge with new green leaves, lush and vibrant. Visitors enjoy their tours and linger on.

II. 2020 Spring, Suiyang Botanical Garden Viewing Lotuses

The main viewing points for lotuses in Suiyang Botanical Garden are the Thousand-Color Lotus Garden. After entering the West Gate, I went straight to the Thousand-Color Lotus Garden. Cherry blossoms bloomed in profusion, white as snow, green like velvet, swaying in the wind, welcoming visitors from all directions with a smile.

• After passing through the Thousand-Color Lotus Garden Gate, I walked south along the road, and I arrived at the most concentrated viewing area of lotuses in Suiyang Botanical Garden – the Nine-Color Lotus Platform. Around the Nine-Color Lotus Platform, the most vibrant is 'Yin Ri Hong'. The flowers are large, the flower color is fiery red with a hint of white, dominated by red, vibrant and dripping, giving people a sense of beauty.

2. Fen Zhong Guan

Fen Zhong Guan lotus is also an early-blooming variety. The flowers are large and bloom richly; they are not flamboyant but elegant and generous, down-to-earth, and one of the precious early-blooming lotus varieties.

3. Er Qiao

Er Qiao is a favorite variety among early-blooming lotuses. A plant has two colors, and a flower contains two colors. Generally, in a large lotus garden, it's hard to find a few true Er Qiao. In the most common Er Qiao in Luoyang, it is 'pink' and 'purple' coexisting on one plant or one flower. When they bloom, pink overlaps repeatedly, and purple is deep and beautiful, considered the 'King of Flowers,' a truly exceptional and exquisite beauty.

4. Hei Hai Jin

Around the Nine-Color Lotus Platform, the most vibrant is 'Yin Ri Hong.'

5. Lan Tian Yu

• Lan Tian Yu flowers bloom with pink through purple, slightly showing blue, like jade, dazzling white, giving it its name. Around the Nine-Color Lotus Platform, among the early-blooming lotus varieties, Lan Tian Yu is the most abundant.

6. Jing Yu

Jing Yu is a white lotus. When it blooms, the petals overlap, shyly revealing its fragrance, pure white like jade, resembling a young girl.

7. Xing Biao

Xing Biao is a variety of red lotuses. When it blooms, it's fiery red, passionate and unrestrained, festive and joyful, dominating the scene, and attracting attention.

8. Huo Bao Mu Dan

Huo Bao Mu Dan lotus has a shape resembling 'embroidered pouch,' red and pink, scattered like stars, falling from the branches, beautiful and captivating. Huo Bao Mu Dan is a rare lotus variety, generally not found in local gardens; you must come to a large lotus garden to see it, truly a genuine lotus.

9. Luo Yang Hong

Luo Yang Hong is most commonly purple, when it blooms, purple through red, the petals overlapping, majestic and upright, colorful and dazzling. Luo Yang's lotuses are widely planted throughout the city and are a beautiful sight, a key element of early-blooming lotuses in Luoyang.

I love Luoyang and love lotuses. Every year when the lotuses bloom, we enjoy the free lotus garden. Lotuses seem to appear earlier in my eyes, with many varieties and colors, blooming together with other flowers.
