Introduction to National Cities: Guiyang City, Guizhou Province
Guiyang, the provincial capital of Guizhou Province, also known as Zhù (Castle) and Jīn Zhù (Golden Castle), boasts the reputation of being a 'Forest City' due to its location south of Guizhou Mountain. It is the political, economic, cultural, scientific, educational, and transportation center of Guizhou Province and a significant transportation, communication, industrial base, and trade-tourist service center in Southwest China. As one of the central cities in Southwest China and a national ecological leisure and vacation tourism city, it's also a national comprehensive railway hub. Located in the central part of Guizhou Province, it borders the four counties of Weng'an, Longli, Hui Shui, and Changshun in the south, Anshun's Píngpíng County and Zìjīn County in the Bijie region in the west, and and District of Zunyi City in the north.
Guiyang is situated in the central part of the Original Hills, with a southwest terrain high and northeast low, at an altitude of approximately 1100 meters. It belongs to a subtropical moist and temperate climate with an average annual temperature of 15.3℃ and a relative humidity of 77%, and in 2018, the forest coverage rate reached 52.0%, with 11 forest parks. As of 2017, Guiyang City comprises 6 urban districts, 3 counties, and directly administers 1 county-level city. In 2018, the permanent resident population was 488.19 million.
In January 2019, Guiyang was listed in the '2018 WFBA China's Top 50 Cities with Greatest Investment Potential' list.
