Journey to Dali, Yunnan

Lijiang is the main gathering place for the Bai people, the Bai people are fair-skinned, with white walls and white courtyards, with curved eaves and charming layouts. Walking through it, one often wonders if every house here is wealthy, or if it has received funding from the central government for building ethnic-featured villages. Otherwise, it's unthinkable that every household has new two-story buildings, which is something you wouldn't imagine in a rural area.

The ancient city of Lijiang is a very commercialized imitation old town. Inside the ancient city, it's bustling with people, with performances of playing instruments and singing from ten in the morning to ten at night. There are also (local rice cakes) shops, employing two men in Bai clothing to sell, dancing and performing in front of tourists with a blank expression while tossing.
The alleys of the ancient city are largely the same, similar to so-called old streets across the country. Various shops, locals basically don't go to them, only to the markets. The goods in the ancient city's shops may have come from Yiwu. They are no different from the things sold in places like the Tai Shan and Jinan Furong Lane.
