Oriental White Stork Makes Its Debut in Xiangyuan County
Blue skies and white clouds, rushes sway, white egrets and wild ducks fly and dance. Bright spring sunshine shines on the river surface, a graceful Oriental white stork plays in the river, its snow-white feathers, vivid red legs and feet, and shimmering coverts and flight feathers combine so exquisitely, a breathtaking sight, presenting a vibrant scene, painting a beautiful spring painting. This is the first time an Oriental white stork has appeared in Xiangyuan County.


According to relevant information, the Oriental white stork is a large wading bird with a graceful appearance and belongs to a national first-level endangered bird. It is known as the ‘Bird Treasure’ and ‘Bird Panda’. Its main distribution and breeding grounds are concentrated in the Russian Far East and Northeast China, while its wintering grounds are concentrated in the Yangtze River Basin of China.
