Beyond Lhasa, Heading West (11) - The Amazing Guoquotang Great Bend
On July 20th, the seventh day of the trip. According to the plan, we got an early start and visited the Guoquotang Great Bend of the Yarlung Tsangpo River.
There are many Yarlung Tsangpo Great Bends in general, with the Guoquotang Great Bend in Metze being the most magnificent.
Lincheng, Linzhi, Tibet, due to the influence of the warm, humid climate of the Indian Ocean, has lush vegetation and elegant environment, known as 'Tibet's Jiangnan' (South China Plain). It's under Metze, located at the southernmost end of the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon, with beautiful, rugged natural environment and breathtaking scenery. Lotus Holy Land Metze is the most beautiful place in southern Tibet, and its Guoquotang Canyon is characterized by rugged terrain and unique shapes, particularly typical.
Visiting Guoquotang Canyon was also a key focus of our Metze trip.

Early at 6:00 AM, we departed from Metze County,
We traveled along the winding mountain road of the Yarlung Tsangpo Canyon, the road is narrow but passable, 11 kilometers, and we quickly arrived at the Yijiang shore.

We crossed the Dexing Bridge to the opposite bank and continued driving.

Not far from the bridge, we arrived at the Guoquotang Canyon Viewing Platform.
Early at 6:50 AM viewing platform, shrouded in mist and fog, it's like a fairyland, you can't see anything!

Soon, several friends from Shaanxi also arrived, and everyone was chatting and laughing, talking about the weather.

Some were in a hurry to leave, while others calmly waited.
It's better to seize the opportunity to take some beautiful photos.

The riverside in the morning was misty and beautiful.
Let's calm down and wait for the clouds to clear and the mist to dissipate…
We waited for 20 or so minutes, gradually, gradually… 7:10 AM, the Yarlung Tsangpo slowly emerged from the mist…
Slowly, slowly, it became clearer, the Guoquotang Great Bend appeared in the field of vision: winding like a snake, majestic and imposing!

Hold your breath and watch, either meditate or quickly take a shot!
You can see the pavilion on the island with its bright red roof.

While watching, we couldn't help but think about the origin of the name Guoquotang:
The Yarlung Tsangpo flows around this place and makes a big bend, which locals also call it a serpentine bend. And because it looks like a lollipop when viewed from above, it's called Guoquotang Great Bend.

At this great bend, the Yarlung Tsangpo is like a young man full of ambition preparing to leave home, arrived at the village, turned around and looked back, looked at the village and waved goodbye to his mother with deep affection. Leaving Guoquotang, it flows through not far from the back-breaking village. The Yarlung Tsangpo has a magnificent momentum and flows endlessly, flowing out of Kham and into India, known as the Brahmaputra River.
Several handsome seniors!
Heaven and earth are misty and all things are becoming more pure.

This is the magnificent Yarlung Tsangpo as legend tells.
