Pearl Harbor Without Pearls: Similar to Hilo (Honolulu) on the Hawaiian Island
Pearl Harbor is located in the lowest-lying plains between the Ko'olau Mountains and the Wai'anae Mountains on the southern shore of Oahu Island, adjacent to the only deep-water port, Hilo Harbor, it was the main naval base and shipyard for the U.S. Navy, and one of the largest and best secure anchorage ports in the North Pacific islands. Ordinary civilian ships and foreign warships were not allowed to enter without special permission from the U.S. Department of the Navy.
