Gabonese Republic(French: République gabonaise), commonly known asGabon(French: Gabon), is a country located in West-Central Africa. To the west is the Gulf of Guinea, to the northwest is Equatorial Guinea, to the north is Cameroon, and to the east and south it is surrounded by the Republic of Congo. The country’s land area is approximately 270,000 square kilometers, with an estimated population of 1.5 million. Its capital and largest city is Libreville.
Gabon is located on the coast of Central Africa near the Equator, with an equatorial climate, and 85% of its land area is covered by tropical rainforest. It has three distinct natural geographic zones:
