Summer Encounter with Coolness: Leisurely Exploration of Wudi Immortal Mountain
Wudi Mountain is located in Heyang County, Shaanxi Province, and is named after the Wudi Temple built on the summit of West Peak. Wudi Mountain is a historical famous mountain, and its east-west stretch resembles a ridge, which local people also call Liangshan (Ridge Mountain). It has profound cultural heritage and peculiar landscape resources, and it is the only mountain in China named after an emperor. Climbing the mountain, you can see the continuous Yellow Dragon Mountains in the distance, and hundreds of years of ancient pines and cypresses cover the sky, creating a picturesque natural landscape that is truly breathtaking. However, such natural beauty is most afraid of forest fires and environmental pollution.
Talking about the trees and vegetation of Wudi Mountain is a strange thing for everyone. Unlike other mountain peaks, which often have flowers and grass, Wudi Mountain is filled with pines and cypresses everywhere, with hundreds of years and even thousands of old trees. Perhaps this is a generous gift from nature, or perhaps it's the result of planting by people hundreds of years ago. Today, everything we see is both eternal and fragile. Forest fire prevention and environmental protection are of paramount importance, and it's a matter of urgency. Regarding the myths and legends of the Wudi Temple, there may be some yet to be verified. However, historical legends are not fabricated by humans. Every renovation here has yielded relevant historical materials from ancient times.
According to county annals, the existing Hall of Offering (Hall of Offering) of the Wudi Temple was rebuilt in the early years of the Republic of China. The Hall of Offering and Main Hall built in the fourth year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty were destroyed by fire. In 1998, the masses spontaneously invested labor and materials to renovate the South Heavenly Gate and Hall of Offering, and rebuilt the statue of Wudi. The time on the pillars of the stone tablets shows that this place has experienced thousands of years of wind and rain. Perhaps someone really lived on the top of the mountain long ago. Then, could all the pines and cypresses in the mountains be planted at that time?
Nowadays, it has become a popular tourist destination for shade and cooling. There is a Jade Emperor Temple, Mother Temple, and Three Mother Temples on the summit, as well as Quiet Terrace, Rising Terrace, and Dragon Exploring the Sea on the east side. They laugh and tell myths and legends, whether true or not, they enjoy it wholeheartedly.
Wudi Mountain is the beloved mountain, wonder mountain, holy mountain, and sacred mountain for Heyang people. There's a local rhyme: 'The mountain has gods, the mountain has immortals, and there are fairy pills all over the mountain. A deaf person goes to the mountain to turn around once, you can hear the chicken crowing over the mountains; a blind person goes to the mountain to turn around once, you can pierce a needle through the moon.' Such a fairy mountain is worth visiting.
