Editor's View of Sui Xian: That Unexpected Surprise Was Right Beside Us
Witnessing the 'Bird Island Paradise' at Beihu Lake, a scene of harmonious bliss.
Every time I see the white swans and other migratory birds passing over Shiqu, resting on Lake Ruihu, City Lake, and the Yellow River Ancient Canal Water Reservoir, I'm filled with amusement.
Not building a nest doesn't mean settling down; even the best birds need to take flight, but it does leave us with proof of improved water quality.
However, this place is different – it's a group of nesting birds who stay close, never straying. It's a group of birds thriving in a bustling tourist area, yet choosing to remain hidden in the city. It's a group of diverse and harmonious birds.
Two original ecological islets in the central waters of Beihu Lake's North Lake, with scattered trees and few human footprints, unexpectedly became a bird's paradise.
The location for the tower was named Fenming Island, derived from a legend dating back 2000 years – Emperor Qin's dream of a phoenix spreading its wings, and the ancient Shiqu City, also known as 'Fengcheng' (Phoenix City).
Phoenix spreading its wings, Shiqu City expanded southwards and moved north, and now the Shiqu County has truly earned its title as a 'Central Water City'. We should thank Shiqu County – through generations of relentless effort, 'The city is in the lake, the lake is in the city' Central Water City has become an open 4A scenic area. But those two original ecological islets have always remained in their pristine state.
Human and bird harmony, coexisting peacefully, depends on mutual respect. The newly built Fenming Island allows for the distant observation of hundreds of birds gathering to admire a phoenix.
One island, one free and happy bird, ecology speaks volumes. Observe from a distance, minimizing disturbance, and allowing beauty to remain with us. I wish luck to Shiqu and Shiqu County!
