I believe everyone knows that in 2017, Jiuzhaigou County in Sichuan Province was hit by an earthquake, causing damage to the Jiuzhaigou scenic area, which led to its intermittent closure for a period of time, causing many tourists who were planning to visit Jiuzhaigou to feel regretful. However, we would like to introduce a place that is completely different from Jiuzhaigou, its 'elder brother', called Baizhai Gorge.
Baizhai Gorge is located in Guitai Town, deep in the Qinzhou Ten-Wan Mountains of Guangxi, and is a 4A-level scenic area in China. As for the origin of Baizhai Gorge, it is said that it was originally inhabited by eight villages and towns, and the villagers earned a living by harvesting eight-corner pepper in the approximately eight-kilometer-long gorge. This legend truly resonates with the 'eight' in Baizhai Gorge. Baizhai Gorge is well-known locally and has a long history, with beautiful scenery, and the ticket price is only 50 yuan/person.
This hidden gem in the south, Baizhai Gorge, may not be as famous as Jiuzhaigou internationally, but it is also one of the outstanding scenic areas in the local area. The area where it is located belongs to a subtropical rainforest climate, with unique weather conditions, which has also created its special scenery. Baizhai Gorge has preserved its original ecological features to this day, and it is one of the best-protected areas for forest vegetation in southern Guangxi. Although it is relatively close to the city, not many people know about it, making it very low-key.
When you are in the scenic area, you will see a small pool of water with unique rocks as the bottom. The water is clear and cool. It is said that there are approximately one hundred small and large stone pools in the entire gorge, arranged in a stepped manner, forming natural bathing pools. In the hot summer, it's a great choice to come here to cool off. Be sure to bring your swimsuit, admire the beautiful scenery, and listen to the sound of the flowing stream, and take a refreshing swim.
Besides the beautiful scenery, in the early days of the last century, Huang Xing and others launched an uprising at the instruction of Sun Yat-sen, which achieved a significant victory. At the same time, Baizhai Gorge was also a filming location for the movie 'Hero: Tiger and Cage'. You can still see the filming location in the scenic area now.
